Self-hosted edition
Connecting agents
Install the nginx-agent package on every nginx server you want to
monitor. The agent connects out to the server over HTTPS; nothing connects in to the nginx host.
1. Install the agent
sudo dnf install ./nginx-agent-*.x86_64.rpm
The agent runs as its own nginx-agent account and needs read access to the
nginx configuration and logs. For traffic metrics, nginx must expose
stub_status on a local URL:
server {
listen 127.0.0.1:80;
location /nginx_status { stub_status; allow 127.0.0.1; deny all; }
}
2. Run the guided setup
sudo nginx-agent setup
It asks for the server URL (https://<server>/nginxmon) and the agent token shown on the dashboard's Agents page, writes /etc/nginx-agent/nginx-agent.env, and
tests the connection. Then:
sudo systemctl enable --now nginx-agent
Within a few seconds the agent appears on the dashboard's Agents page and its servers start reporting.
Checking an agent
sudo systemctl status nginx-agent
sudo journalctl -u nginx-agent -f
